Description
This discreet, smart boutique hostel is located under the casted shadow of the magnificent Cathedral, Santa Maria del Fiore or what the locals call “Il Duomo”. On the same street you will also find the Museo dell' Accademia which houses some of Michelangelo's masterpieces. One of which is the famous sculpture of David. One the greatest symbol and artworks of the Florentine renaissance.
This hostel is totally embraced and encircled by history, it resides inside an early 17th Century Palace, that was once owned by Baron Bettino Ricasoli, who was a leading protagonist in the Italian Risorgimento as well as the prime minister to Italy. Making our hostel the ideal venue for a true Florentine vacation.

Although at the same time, for those who want to enjoy the Florence nightlife, you will find the hostel within walking distance to the best restaurants, bars and clubs in Florence. Our staff is composed of young and lively locals who can introduce you to all you are looking for and more. Offering great tips and suggestions allowing you to enjoy this city to the fullest.
The Academy Hostel is a rather small hostel and can accommodate to 30 guests. Our well-maintained dormitory rooms houses a variety of spacious dormitories most of them with personal bathrooms . You can choose between single bed rooms to 6 bed dorms. You will find that we have NO BUNK BEDS, making it a very cozy, familiar and friendly environment.
All rooms are air-conditioned in the summer and heated in the winter, we provide our clients with big lockers for their valuables. You will find a free WI-FI hotspot in the common room as well as free usage of our computers in the lobby.
All the bed linens are provided for free of charge along with a bath towel. Comfortable couches in the lobby with a LCD wide screen TV for those who want a kick back and relax allowing our clients to meet an eclectic selection of people from all over the world.

*** According to the City Council resolution n. 230/33 of 06/20/2011, from July 1st the City of Florence will introduce the tourism tax, applied to non-residents overnight staying, for a maximum of 10 consecutive nights.
The tourism tax rate is Euro 1,00 per person per night, and it is not applied to:
• children (up to 10 years old);
• people, who provide assistance to patients in hospital, max one each patient
• people/family, who provide assistance to underage patients in hospital, max two each patient

How to reach us
From the central station of Santa Maria Novella, exit left where you will see a Pharmacy and continue down the left side of that street which is called Via Panzani it will lead you to a square called piazza dell' Unita d'Italia in the center of it is a big obelisk. Continue along Via Panzani, in the direction of the Giant marble cathedral, il Duomo. After a bit, the street will curve to the left and will change names to Via de'Cerretani.
Keep walking on Cerretani and you will see the majestic Duomo on your right after a moment, as soon as you reach the corner of the baptistery almost parallel to the doors of the cathedral you will see a big sport store called UNIVERSAL SPORTS turn left and you will find the street Via Ricasoli.
Walk for another 20 meters. We are at number #9 The Huge Wooden door to your left , just beside the another sport store. To the right of the big wooden door you will find a bronze plate with our name on it If you find the door open, walk towards the end of the courtyard and take the stairs on the far end left we are on the first floor.
TRANSPORTATION:
TAXI : ,You will find the taxis stationed outside the railway station. It will cost around 10 euros to get to the hostel.
Taxis are stationed in front of the Arrivals terminal or can be called by radio taxi (Phone +39.055.4242/4390/4499/4798).
Taxi journey time from the airport to Florence city center is about 15-20 minutes. Journey cost is calculated by the taxi meter (average cost is 20 Euro).
FROM THE FLORENCE AIRPORT:
There is a bus every half hour that leaves from Florence airport to Florence station.
They start to go at 6am and the last one 11:30pm.

Please when you come into the hostel give us your plate number and the time of your entry into the city. This information is crucial because we have to declare your entry to the motorization of Florence.
Remember that Florence is one of Italy's most heaviest fined city. Don't park inside white lines because those are for residence owners, and for private business. If your gonna park inside any lines make sure its in the blue space and that you pay the parking fee and display the payment and time on the dash board of your car.

2 days before arrival: no penalty
less than 2 days before arrival o for no show: 1 night penalty charged
Deposit is NON refundable.
In case of early check out, we will charge 30% of total stay.
